Shawn Tassone MD PhD
is America’s Holistic Gynecologist
I am board certified by the American Board of obstetrics and gynecology, and the American Board of integrative medicine. I also hold a PhD in philosophy from Saybrook University Where I studied different aspects of healing, and the mind-body integration In the healing process.
I have been asked the question many times. How did I get where I am today? You know, that’s an interesting question, and as I’ve looked back over the years, I think it all goes back to my relationship with my mother. In 1995 when I was a second year, resident in obstetrics and gynecology. My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 51. She passed away from the disease in 2001 and what I noticed was that while I understood a lot about the disease process, the chemotherapy and the surgeries what I lacked was an ability to make my own mother comfortable, and was unable to help her live a happy, productive life. When she died, I profess to her that I wasn’t going to let another woman suffer, and that I promised her that I would do my best from that point forward to help all women in their desires to live a happy and healthy life.
This ultimately led to additional training at the University of Arizona in integrative medicine, where I trained with renowned leader, Dr Andrew Weil.
I wrote the book The Hormone Balance Bible: A Holistic Plan to Create Lifelong Health in 2021 published by Harper Collins.
The book is the combination of all my training, and how I break down the 12 most common hormone imbalances in women’s health and apply it to a narrative story or what I call an archetype.
My deepest hope is to support as many women as possible on their journey through perimenopause and menopause and also to help younger women understand their health and navigate the medical system with confidence. It's the kind of support I wish I could have given my own mother.
